A realtor throwing money out of the window

In my six plus years in the game I have had a ton of solicitations about getting leads just as you have I'm sure. Typically you get a text with something along the lines of:

"Hi Agent, your are a Milwaukee realtor, I was wondering if you can take on more listings in your area?"

(First of this is manipulation because of course we all want that)

or "This is Evan, I work with LeadMonster we are a innovative AI and Mindreading technology based company from Hightech, CA. I was hoping to take a few minutes of your time to explain how... yada yada yada."

After a rousing speech they eventually get to the part of there is a one time sign up fee just to weed out the serious agents, or as a on-boarding fee, or what ever reason they may give.

You're a serious, successful agent (or aspire to be) of course you can afford the one time fee ranging from $399 to $1250.

PLUS! Some of them promise to recoup the cost from your first few closings to subsidize their referral fee. Well that sure sounds like a good deal!

None of this makes sense and I will tell you why.

If these companies were confident in their leads, they would take the MUCH larger payout on the backend as a 15-33% fee paid at closing like the reputable companies do. (realtor.com***/opcity, homelight, and a hand full of others) *** Update I tried using realtor.com leads right when I went solo, I found them to be poor quality. I reached out to cancel my zip codes. I was shocked to be told that apparently I agreed to a year long contract. When I protested the rep said he was glad that all phone calls were recorded. I was passed on to another rep by the name of Ron. After some loud and colorful words, during which Ron tried to tell me "hey man it's just $2000 dollars as a top Milwaukee realtor should be nothing for you" and during which I asked for the recording of me agreeing to a year long contract and being told they are under no obligation to provide me with it, I was finally able to cancel my zip codes.

It's just simple economics my friends.

My personal experience was with SetSchedule.

Fun fact: the CEO of SetSchedule was previous indicted on securities fraud which I will include below!

Here is a list of companies that I have come across with similar up-front costs that Milwaukee realtors need to watch out for:

Company

Reviews

SetSchedule

thrive 360

Growin Realestate

Techrealtor

Notice: You will find positive reviews, note how they are all written in the tone and style of a boilerplate or AI response.

Are you a Milwaukee realtor that has a new one to add? Let me know !
